All this business about Doc being

our best player yesterday etc. displays a certain lack of appreciation in my opinion. Yes he did yesterday, and often does, make lots of vital last-ditch blocks and physical challenges etc which catch your attention. But ask yourself why is this? It's because his dubious 'reading' of the game means that he finds himself out of position or 'off the pace' to the extent that he is forced into a desperate challenge.

This is not some vague notion; I have watched him closely at games and on video and these are facts - even when Safri sat in front and we should have been more secure this was so.

Add to this his pretty dreadful ditribution (I am really fed up with those aimless right to left 60 yd diagonals which give the ball back to the other team) and his laughable finishing and I'm afraid we have one bad footballer.

And no I'm not making him a scapegoat - you all know I think Grant is squarely to blame for this season's shambles and cannot manage the club to save his life - I just want to point out that a) Doherty is not the player some people seem to think he is and b) Grant can't see that either!
