Nah it's easier than that...

doel = goal (as in aim, ambition or the physical goal under which the keeper stands)
doelpunt = goal (as in football, literally "goal point")
doelpunten = plural of doelpunt ("goal points")

And on a similar note:

doelman = goalkeeper
