Yes - which was barely an upset at all anyway
And before that, I think you have to go back to '67 at Old Trafford (the end of a glorious period in which, as well as the '59 run, we beat Liverpool at CR and Arsenal at Highbury as a Third Division South side, and were even the only side to win at Ipswich the year they won the title!)
But since 1992, our Cup record is absolutely shocking. Three Cup fifth round appearances in 15 attempts. No progress beyond the League Cup third round since 1995/6!! There's a few other clubs with similarly poor records - Coventry and West Brom in our division, for instance, and can you believe that Man City have not reached a single semi-final since 1981?!?
But it's still a total embarrassment. How come sides like Sheff Utd, Palace or Watford are able to reach semi-finals regularly, but not us? How come Birmingham, Millwall or Tranmere have done even better? And how come sides from lower down like Wycombe (twice), Chesterfield, Stockport and Swindon have reached the last four of one of the two Cup competitions too?

- To be fair, for most of the time between 1967 and 1996 we were in the top flight. (n/m) (NCFC) - Ottosson Foxtrot, Sep 26, 16:57:50
- It's still a piss poor Cup record in general though, Otto (NCFC) - thebigfeller, Sep 26, 17:02:53
