A bit of a mess when it comes to definition as it often refers to movements in art,

intellectual posturing, philosophy, architecture etc etc that have no central position and are rather ambiguous and over complicated.

From what I remember of my degree.. in which we studied it a bit (albeit in reference to Film and Cinema).
