The reason no-one agrees

is because there isn't much evidence that the youths we have are any good - Martin excepted - and he has been given a run in the team.
Halliday, for example, is like a breath of wind, he simply isn't physically ready for the rigours of Championship football.
The sad truth is that most lads that come through the youth system at every club simply don't make it - not because the managers - in some weird mirror image of you - are anti-youth, but because they simply aren't good enough.
The Conference and lower leagues are littered with players who didn't make it at "big" clubs - Histon have 3 ex-scummers, and it seemed that almost the entire Farsley squad had either been with Leeds or Donny.
We were additionally hampered for years by the cutbacks caused to the youth system by a previous regime's financial mismanagement. We are at last getting players coming through - from what I've seen Rossi Jarvis Spillane and Martin could well have good league careers. And that's a good return actually.
