To my mind, it's not so much losing Etuhu and Earnshaw that's undone Grant:

It's losing Colin and Safri. We're crying out for a decent centre-back and some steel in midfield, and we lost both of those players because they fell out with Grant. The 'release clause' losses were beyond his control - those definitely weren't.
