The Northern Rock thing
A few weeks ago, Barclays had to take a large emergency loan from the Bank of England. It was revealed that this was the second time in a month they had done so. Coverage in the media was fairly low-key.
Northern Rock do the same thing and the media have absolute, utter hysterics "Northern Rock in meltdown" etc., there's front page coverage of the Northern Rock "Crisis", endless radio analysis...why? What's different? Why do the media see fit to panic the steaming herds in this case but not the other?
