Time will tell, of course, but
I am convinced that Grant will leave Norwich in a position very similar to when he inherited it. You can say what you like and I understand and even admire optimism amongst supporters but he is clearly a total novice tactically (as was Worthington).
There is no pattern of play, no plan, no really identifiable system - it's just a hotch-potch of players thrown together in hope with a manager standing at the side with a piece of paper in his hand shouting unintelligible gibberish.
Even schoolboy teams learn to mark at corners for God's sake!
Real managers MAKE teams by identifying players who can do the jobs that need doing in the system they have decided to adopt, then going out and getting them. That's what Allardyce has done throughout his career - he knows how he wants to play (it might not be pretty) then he gets the players and TELLS them how to operate. And before Bolton he did it without cash.
That's what I optimistically thought was happening at Carrow RD this summer. But it clearly isn't because Grant doesn't have tactics. Last season I thought he could be excused because he didn't have the players to play HIS way; now I realise that he doesn't have a way!
Yes go on everybody call me whatever you like (except Scummer) but you will eventually realise that, as I have said before, we took a cheap option with Grant and the gamble will not pay off because he does not have what it takes.
Keep an eye on Mark Robins at Rotherham. Give him a couple of years to learn his trade then he could be our best manager since Mike Walker (Mk 1). The difference is Robins is intelligent.
