Ben Anderson travels to one of the most dangerous places on Earth to see World Cup hopefuls Colombia try to qualify for the 2006 World Cup. In a country where violence is a way of life with the army, paramilitaries and left wing guerillas locked in three-way conflict, conceding an own goal can be a national tragedy.

Once, with the enthusiastic support of the cocaine barons, Colombian football was awash with money - and the national team boasted some of the most colourful stars in world football. Now a new generation of players are trying to recover the glory days. The Colombian national team will need every ounce of talent to beat neighbours Venezuela, the former poor relation among the other South American footballing nations, but now rising stars.
