Mate of mine took an Aussie friend of his to Brighton v Chesterfield a while back

The Aussie couldn't believe how many people were stood there, in the rain, watching such utter crap. My mate swelled with pride, figuring it just showed the incredible hold football has here (and, of course, how Leagues 1 and 2 are still sustainable against all logic and reason). But then the Aussie said:

"If this was back home, they'll all be out PLAYING sport, not watching it with their pies and fags!"

Have to say he had a point: and the next time anyone b***hes about how crap the UK is at sport, I think the answer's right there.//
