but yeah, i was saying that if it wasn't for Elvis it would have been someone else (and we'd still have ended up more or less where we are now)

though it might be that if it was someone not as good as Elvis the black artists who were around at the time might not have been quite so eclipsed and therefore have benefitted more from the Other White Dude Who Wasn't Elvis' opening up of the market
