And so another test summer draws to a close

Two years ago, the nation was going wild... now? Partly thanks to mediocre performances, but mostly to do with the loss of the game to pay tv, our national summer game is reduced to bit part player.

Thanks to Sky, test cricket comes to an abrupt halt right in the middle of the summer holidays - just so it doesn't interefer with the blessed, sacred Premiership.

So even if you are a young boy, falling in love with the game, and whose parents are prepared to shell out £400 a year, it's all done and dusted in the second week of August.

I love football, but not so much when it casts such a long f**king shadow over our others games.
