Not A Chance
Written by a Hammers fan at the Star, I have no doubt!
They've been linked with all sorts of ridiculous speculation since they got promoted-including Figo, and I think their chances of signing Figo are better than their signing Deano!
What I want to know is where they have got all their money from-they were nearly bankrupt when they went down, two seasons spent in the CCC, so nothing except two sets of parachute payments. I guess they're gambling on staying up and the old "Hammers too good to go down" mentality again? Well, we'll see...
We don't want to sell Ashton.
We don't need to sell Ashton.
He doesn't want to leave.
The board would probably be ran out of town if they DID sanction his transfer now.
When, rather than if, he leaves, it will be to one of the top four-five clubs, and for not a penny less, I would hope, than ?8 million-with respect to Crouchie, if Redknapp can ask for, and get that for him, then what price Deano? West Ham would be a sideways step for him, indeed, I would guess that their overall record in the Prem is not a lot better than ours anyway!
Ideally, Deano will get 30 plus goals for us next season, we'll go back up, and, in 06-07, he'll get 12-15 before the transfer window in Jan 2007, get us in a good position, and go to Arsenal for ?10 million.
