oh and re: your query of the use of the word 'tip' earlier, i think FP meant that he was going through a bit of a fad for salad. the only other example of this kind of use that i can think of is that stunning early nineties tune 'on a ragga tip'. Nothing online seems to help me get to the origins of the phrase and none of my dictionaries or etymological tomes seem to acknowledge its existence.
