sorry - been out all afternoon. This is how I'd guess it might have worked

They have told us what they'd pay. We've told them we'd accept it.

They've told Saf's agent what he'd earn there. Saf has accepted that.

But we've told them that there'll be no deal for a few weeks, until the Etuhu departure feels a bit more in the past, and until we've brought in another CM. Which we've told them we expect to happen.

Everyone's relatively happy with the situation (or at least there's nothing much they can do about it, given he's under contract here). He's gonna get the move he wants, West Brom are gonna get the player they want, Grant will get the cash he wants. But all in due time.

I don't know if that's what's going on. But if he does end up at West Brom this summer, after all the rumours three weeks ago, I think you have to assume something like this is what happened.
