No we aren't living in Thatchers Britain but we are living the consequences of it, despite Blair. There is a huge hysteresis in social history and the type of society we now have, based on rampant greed, consumerism and selfishness, had it's beginnings in Thatcherism and her massive de-regulations. Blair did nothing to counter that as he was almost as right wing, in market terms, as Thatcher.
It will take anothe 15-20 years before it changes, and that assumes that the young people of today want it to change.
Still, I can't beat the system so I, much as I dislike it, I may as well take advantage through the vastly inflated value of my property and give myself a comfortable 20 odd years ( if I'm lucky ;-))
