GRANT HINTS AT MIDFIELDER SWOOP
Posted on: Wed 18 Jul 2007

CITY boss Peter Grant tonight hinted he was on the verge of securing his seventh summer signing as talks are on-going to bring in a Premiership midfielder on loan.

Speaking to First News after tonight's 4-0 friendly success at King's Lynn, he said he was 'hopeful' of securing the player before the squad sets off for its tour of Holland on Friday.

Grant commented: "Hopefully a midfielder and hopefully before we go to Holland. We should know more about it tonight and if it happens it will be a loan.

"In terms of the length of the loan it depends on his club. I would like to make it a season-long loan but I know his club rate him so they may want to do it over a shorter period.

"He is a Premiership player and as I said, we should know more about it later tonight."

Reflecting on a good night for strikers Jamie Cureton and David Strihavka at The Walks, he said: "I love to see strikers scoring goals and it was good to see a bit of magic from David winning us the penalty. Jamie showed his striking instinct for his second by being in the right area at the right time. I love to see it and long may it continue."
