but if it had been made public at the time that we had paid £3m for Earnie but to get him we had to agree to a £3.5m release clause the overwhelming number of people on here would have said that was a reasonable thing to agree to (the alternative being to sign no-one). No-one would have known that in 18 months mediocrities like Chopra would be going for £5m. We had to make the decision based on circumstances at the time. The best chance of going up was probably to do it first time. We had just sold our pedigree striker. If we didn't replace him we would have effectively quit on a crucial season. How would YOU have reacted to that? That's the position the Board were in. I can understand why they did what they did. They aren't psychic.
