we accept that mid-level Championship football is the most likely position given our resources, but not an inevitable one.

More is possible if we spend our limited resources wisely and the youth setup delivers homegrown quality and we get lucky with injuries (as in 2003/4).

There's a difference between what is possible and what is likely. You always try to do teh best, but everyone else is doing the same and not everyone can win. We support a club in the hope that every now and then the best-case scenario comes true.
