There's basically three types of internet connection
- from your phone socket to your computer - usually 56kbps (kilo bits per second). You have to dial in to get a connection.
- ISDN from a special phone socket to your computer - usually 128kbps. You have to dial in to get a connection. A frigged version of the first.
- broadband from a special phone socket or via a cable box to your computers ethernet (network) port. Speeds typically start at 256kbps and can go all the way to 2048kbps. You connect when you start your computer.
