if you had asked most fans about the clause when we signed him - given that most fans love their club signing "big" name players as it shows 'ambition' - they would have thought it was a reasonable thing to accept in order to get him here - after all it pretty much protected the fee we paid for him. OK, we didn't mae any profit as (it subsequently turns out, though there was no way to know that at the time) we could have done but we didn't make much of a loss either.
