Old Git makes a good point below with regards to the later you leave it, the more likely it is that you're going to get bitten on the arse when it comes to transfer deals. The club needs to learn that the later you leave things, the more likely you're going to get screwed by players/agents/other clubs.
Sure, Earnshaw's probably worth £4.5-£5m, but at least we've got an amount of money for him which will allow us to invest in the squad. It looks like we've got Cureton in, who despite being older, and not quite in Earnshaw's league, should do a good job for us.
Grant is doing the right thing in getting business done early, and it's not his fault that Worthy cocked up when he signed Earnshaw in the first place (by leaving it until deadline day). If we get Eastwood in for £2.8m, we've effectively got Cureton and Eastwood in a swap deal for Earnshaw. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
And we'll still have £2m-ish to play with. I, for one, am not panicking just yet.
