Why the signing of Jamie Cureton represents a new era...

The news of the impending arrival of Jamie Cureton should bring hope rather than despair. The biggest and most heartbreaking problem with this great football club since we got relegated have been the types of characters we have brought in.

I don't think it was until this summer that I've started to think PG is getting it right. My doubts before surfaced mainly because the Chris Brown signing was huge mistake in my eyes, a bad egg and of the same mould as Hughes, Thorne and Bobinson, players which simply made me not want to go to games as they did not make the grade. It's no surprise he's been 'injured' since he's been here really. These types of players don't want to be here really.

It could be argued that Cureton's ability at 32 at this level is suspect. However is effort and commitent and love for the club isn't and as we've seen before sometimes that's enough in the championship to carry you through and not be a target for the boo boys.

The main reason I'm liking PG's summer activity is that his signings are players which will be hungry when they get here to keep on moving up or like Dion and Jamie - players who have our affection and affection with the club. Keep it up PG.
