Because they're known to have big wodges, the players and agents demand (and get) stupid wages. So unless the money keeps rolling in, you get into trouble quite quickly.

It doesn't take too many signings which have the wrong balance between talent and wages (Finidi George, And Judas Marshall, Andy Hooves, Peter Thorne) to find you've got an expensive millstone round your neck
