Same thing happened---
on Gorleston beach about 20 years ago. Bloke got trapped in them wooden groyny things and despite everybody's efforts, drowned when the tide came in. I couldn't understand why they didn't save him with breathing apparatus. If it were you in that position, would you shout "just cut me f**king foot off" when the water got to chin level?
