What would you suggest instead then?
Seeing as it was a fan that actually did the deed then perhaps it is right that a punishment is also meted out that deters from other such idiots from doing so in the future. Granted he could have been banged up for a stretch etc but I suspect that would only affect him and the other potential Viking basket cases would not take much notice after a gallon of Aquavit or whatever schitt the boneheads drink.
