Its the direction that makes it, not the actors

So i think it would still get good reviews if bill paxton and natalie portman would be in because of Guillermo del Toro's direction and, in particular, Guillermo Navarro's cinematography. having said that, bill paxton has all the emotive qualities of a goldfish so he might have been better off playing the toad rather than any of the key characters.

As for the film - it is what you make it - the very fact that youre talking about it at such length means it has achieved its objective!
