Well, for a start both those numbers are wrong ...

It's either 250.181818... or 250 remainder 2.

But to illustrate, imagine you have 9 apples and want to divide them into 4 equal piles. Well, you get four piles of two apples each and one left over (the remainder). The decimal representation is given by cutting the remaining apple into four pieces to make the four piles all equal - ie. a quarter each or 0.25

Now imagine you have 2752 apples and want 11 equal piles ...
