yep - never understood why people think great players will make good managers

especially in this country, where footballers are typically mind-numbingly thick.

You can be thick and a great footballer, if you have excellent talent and quick instincts. But that won't get you far as a manager. Stuart Pearce is another example - yes he is passionate and a decent bloke, but you only need to hear him interviewed to realise he ain't too bright. Fans might love fist-pumping but they'd be better served by smart tactics etc

Interestingly. the managers of the Prem's Big Four all had pretty (or very) undistinguished playing careers.
