its all about severity and frequency

Yes hundreds die in cars but normally multiples up to 3 or 4, very rarely is there a 33 car death. Also becuase it is a 'regular' occurence it has less impact and is accepted more esily. Same as bombings in bagdhad. Multiple deaths and increased frequency so not so shcoking every time it happens.
