I was thinking about this last night.

Surely it's about time that, if not the FA, but the government introduced a cap on wages across the country, not only to filter out those who play for the game and to stop the crippling effect it has on smaller clubs but to stop the attitude in the country's youth who think they can forego any effort in their younger years because they can earn up to £10k a week for doing f**k all.

If it stops bigger players coming to a club, then so be it. The academy will only produce more homegrown talent for the failing England side.

It will reintroduce a new breed of sportsman who can inspire the younger generation to competitive greatness again.
