I have been in software for about 15 years, 10 of it internet.

I didn't bother getting broadband until about 4 years ago when the neighbours offered it for free. Since then I've had it because I need to work from home and of course working for Orange I get it cheap (not free unfortunately).

But to be honest, I don't NEED broadband. All I NEED is the commentary, email and browsing.

But when you use it you will not be able to go back cos you'll do far more than you have done in the past. And you realise that your phone bill on dial-up isn't far lower than a cheap broadband connection. And when you start to use Skype, you will spend less on your phone bills, etc.
