... not only have I seen him in action on the field several times, but also in action in the pub. Late. I certainly saw more effort going into the latter, with the exception of his first two or three games after he has been ignored for the first team for a while (a pattern we are all familiar with which is why he is so frustrating).

I was also amazed at his attitude in Maastricht which was an environment where the players and spectators mingled freely.

"Who's that arrogant t**t ?" asked my missus half an hour before the game even started.

However, you are defending him based on what you've seen on telly. Hypocrisy ?
