Nicely put but I don't agree

It's simplistic to say that the shoot-out happens after the game and therefore does not affect it. The knowledge that a draw will lead to a shoot-out is bound to affect the way teams play DURING the game - if they reckon they are good at pennos (or the oppo are bad at pennos) they'll be much more inclined to play for a draw, and vice versa. So it will hugely affect the style of play and the second half mentality of the players. Then they get promoted to a different league and have to adjust to a whole new way of thinking and playing.

The comparisons with Cups are irrelevant. Cups are one-off competitions with their own rules. Leagues are bread and butter, twice a week stuff.

And there are no play-offs in the Prem because there's nowhere to be promoted to ...
