Currently reading: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Which is a novel about a 9 year old boy who lost his father in the Sep 11th attack on the WTC. One passage in the book is about the desperation the boy is feeling about the situation, in particular how his mother is dealing with it (she has a new male friend 2 years on). The boy brings up the subject with his mother and things get a bit heated, Oskar (the young lad) tells his mother (out of sheer desperation) at the end of the argument that "If I could have chosen, it would have been you". Therein lies the real tragedy of today, innocent peoples lives will have been ripped apart and nothing can repair that. No retribution, no subsequent judicial process, nothing.
