Yes that happens a lot

The mental health care system is very disjointed so people don't get followed up properly.

Gf's area is in 'early intervention' - getting to people before they become victimss of the system that's meant to help them. She actually spends most of her time trying to get social workers, housing benefit, the dss, community mental healthcare teams to do their job properly.

If you could be as hands-on with everyone with a mental health care problem you'd have a lot less mentalists. The problem, as ever is funding. And the fact that mental health care is at the bottom of the NHS food chain.
