I suppose pretentious is rather harsh. What I mean is that you tend to write in an overly flowerly manner.
There's too many flourishes to my taste, which distract from the point as you're too busy trying to decipher the linguistic contortions. I'm not suggesting that you need to write in an overly concise manner, just that your flourishes should be used to emphasise rather than distract.
