A lot of Froggy-bashing on here today

And with good reason, I suppose. Me, I like the French, tho' I was brought up to despise them (my Dad was Old-School Tory and fought in the war etc). I like their solidarity and their general arsyness: stereotypical maybe but the ones I used to deal with when I was in a different job a few years ago all conformed to a narrow band of types. Good fun.

I remember one day, one of our suppliers came in for a meeting and brought with him one of the blokes from the French side of their company. English rep sat there trying not to look embarrassed as his French mate expounded like a good 'un, explaining to me what changes (shongzhes) we were going to have to make to our operation because we were not being fair "wiz ze business".

I let him red-facedly ramble for ten minutes and when he dried up I told him exactly why he could poke it - from which point he sat there pouting and looking really sulky for the rest of the interview, conducted from then on by the UK rep. Fuck, he was funny. I've never seen anyone look so reluctant to shake hands after a meeting.... marvellous.
