This Dudley Mosque Thing-Now Am I Being Naive, But...?

Wouldn't it help if attempts were made to design such buildings that were multi-faith, multi-cultural, and open to everyone, despite their religion -or not- and so on and so forth?

Or am I being simplistic?

Or should communities/religions etc have a "right" to their own 'exclusive' buildings. Agreed, the C of E etc have theirs, but many were built 100's of years ago, its not as if milliuuons are being spent on them now-and refurbishment of existing old churches etc comes from money raised by the people that use them.

If we are all going to live together, can't practices be adopted so that its easy to do so? I'd love to have a good chat with a Muslim Cleric about their religion and way of life, try to understand where they are coming from etc, but what chance is there?

Surely we can all TRY to at least make "coming together " a little easier rather than emphasising differences?

Or am I being naive?
