Chris Brown - nodebate in my mind...
He is a very, very poor signing. Yes I will give him time in matches etc. But I will be staggered if he manages five goals between no and May.
Actually watch him during the match and I struggle to remember a striker with worse body language. Shoulders slumped, he lopes about the pitch with a sloth like pair of leaden feet. He cannot jump, rarely wins the ball in the air, looks completely unnatural when faced with a goal scoring opportunity. I just cannot accept how a striker can be given a big chance with a move to a new club, then respond with such lethargic displays.
On top of everything else, he clearly also has about as much intelligence as the rump steak I am going to eat later. With the paintball and roasting incidents, is this really the sort of player we need at our club? I just cannot fathom how he can actually have been scouted, researched and yet actually still be an attractive option to sign.
Oh yes, and you have to laugh at what is repeatedly referred to by Grant as his "successful loan spell at Hull City". 1 goal in 13 appearances. Wow.
Apologies for the rant, hopefully I will turn out to be wrong. But my anger is not purely that he is not very good, more that he appears to put in so little effort - something that is unacceptable. He is clearly no athlete either, Martin is raw but has genuine movement and athleticism. Even Dion was charging around chasing down defenders when moved upfront, something that should be embarrasing to a 22 year old striker.
