...by attempting to dissolve a polo that had fallen into the sink by pouring concentrated sulphuric and then concentrated hydrochloric acids into it while looking at the teacher to ensure his back was turned.

For those who didn't suffer Bronsted-Lowry theory at skool, what happens is that you get clouds of hydrogen chloride gas, a thick white fog used as a smoke screen in the navy during WW1, which is also somewhat corrosive. I managed to generate quite a lot of this stuff. There was also an amount of heat generated by the concentrated sulphuric hitting water in the U-bend under the sink which simply compounded the amusement.

And the irony is the f**king polo just sat there throughout, entirely unharmed, mocking my impotent attempts to dissolve it with the strongest chemicals I could nick from the side of the lab we weren't supposed to go near.
