Never used CloneDVD.....
.....But I use DVD Shrink all the time, then burn the images created with Roxio which was bundled with my laptop.
YOu just need to make sure Shrink is set up to create ISO files, not Audio and Video TS files.
I find DVD Image can get past the protection on most, if not all, new release DVDs.
Obviously I use it to back up my own collection of bought DVDs.
