I don't think they were looking for him in particual,

there just happened to be a few police on the stairs in C block (for the first time in ages) and one of them heard him having a rant at a quiet moment.

Totally over the top and could have caused a situation as most people know of him and did not like the way he was treated.

Doubt there is anything else in it Claire.
