It's infrastructure time
Until the last few weeks no-one had joined the first team squad from Scotland since May 2001 when Alan Wood became chief scout. Which is odd when you consider that arguably the best single signing of Worthington's long reign was Gary Holt (signed when the scot Duncan Forbes was chief scout).
Recently, relying on his own contacts, Grant has signed Marshall, Fotheringham and Lappin - with the results that we all saw yesterday.
Also since May 2001 we have only managed to sign one decent "unknown" from a lower league club - MacKenzie. No-one knows what our coaches do all day - but we can guess that our chief scout spends all day looking at "soccerbase" or "championship manager" rather than watching football.
I wonder if he posts on here?
