I think all our players cared about at the time...
... Was getting an easy ride: they didn't like MON's work ethic at all. In his short time with us, he showed signs of getting the right balance between decent football and hard yakka: and actually, Luton away, Barnsley at home (2nd half comeback) and West Brom away were all very good performances. But I'll never forget seeing O'Neill interviewed together with man-of-the-match Bowen after our 2-0 win at Watford which took us 2nd (and, little did we know it, proved our final win under his command): Taff looked VERY uncomfortable, and as though he didn't see eye to eye with the manager at all.
Think about it: a number of players at the club had joined us when we were essentially a mid-table top flight side who, in the memorable and notorious words of Ian Crook, would always win a few and lose a few. The Costa del Norwich goes way, way back: Ron Saunders broke through it, Worthington broke through it to a degree, Grant is aiming to, and O'Neill showed signs of doing so too: but far too many players didn't like it one bit.
