Even the optimists amongst you

must be disappointed by what's happened in this transfer window. We have signed a goalkeeper on loan, a porn star, a maverick misfit on a free and a ?75,000 Scottish midfielder, previously unknown to almost all of us. (We already had Chadwick)

Call me miserable but for a club that has sold Ashton and Green for pretty big sums in the last year or two I have to say that our rcent transfer activity is a clear indication of how far we have fallen. I'm not angry, just sad. Even if these signings turn out to be good ones it has become rather embarrassing to be a City fan recently, never more so than when the manager or Doncaster goes public to explain the difficulty of operating in the nasty, big transfer market.

Norwich seem like a little boy who's allowed to go to town and the big shops for the first time. Completely overawed by the whole experience. Don't know what to buy at what price, scared of being ripped off, 'Quick sonny the shop's closing in five minutes! Grab a couple of items off the sale counter and run along home. Tell evrybody you've got a bargain!'
