For those who can remember back that far...
I wasn't at the game tonight, and am at least encouraged by how well many seem to think we played. One thing though: this season's starting to remind me of 97/8, and that God-awful year was dotted with games at CR where many fans were convinced we'd played the opposition off the park, but had just been unlucky (a 0-0 draw v Reading sticks in my mind very strongly, for example). In reality, we were often naive, predictable and wholly lacking in quality: a bit like the famous England-Poland game in '73, really - and the hard luck stories of the club, media and fans often totally missed the point.
So what I'm asking is this: were we unlucky? Did we play well? Or actually, were we just not good enough to get the job done? Not leading questions in any way, incidentally: most of you were there tonight, I wasn't. I'm just curious - not least because, of course, like pretty much everyone else, I'm really beginning to worry now...
