Why would Man Utd want Gareth Bale?

Do they not already have Silvestre, Evra, Heinze and O' Shea???

I understand that O' Shea now plays mainly midfield, and Silvestre can play left back, but given that their original/natural position was left back, surely thats enough cover if you were unlucky enough to lose your first and second choice
