Chadders - not a world-beater but will do a good job, and only ?200k

Chris Brown - Not necessarily a goalscorer, but considering ?2.5m for Rowan Vine, I'll take a target man with ball skills for ?300k

David Marshall - how desperately do we need a decent keeper?! I hope this lad is up to the task! "Free", relatively speaking.

Matthew Spring - alright it's gone tits up, but he'd be another quality signing, especially for ?250k. Newell will be delighted.

Pearson - good player, ?800k was probably about right, but wanted to go with Billy Davies and it's easy to understand why.

All decent players, all for reasonable fees. We're not going to spunk a fortune on players and we don't need world-beaters. We need capable, honest pros and that seems to be what Grant's looking for. Given a decent midfielder and (now) a goalscorer (David Edwards and Derek Riordan, come on down?), we'll be alright.
