and had been rightly pilloried for it before he came to England.
Where he was smart was that he realised it wouldn't be tolerated in the same way here, and so stopped doing it (mostly). And also, as you say, took the p*ss out of himself and others with the goal celebration.
Reputation when he first came was very well-deserved however.
